What this test measures
The Visual Memory Test measures visuospatial short-term memory. A set of tiles lights up, the board goes dark, and you rebuild what you saw. Each cleared level adds tiles; the test ends when you can no longer reproduce the pattern.
This is the matrix-span paradigm used in working-memory research. Most people hold five to eight positions. Grouping tiles into shapes usually helps.
