What this test measures
The Stroop Test is a Stroop interference test: the word RED printed in blue ink, and you answer the ink color. Reading is automatic, so the word interferes; overriding it costs time. The score is response speed with an accuracy penalty.
The effect was documented by John Ridley Stroop in 1935 and is one of the most replicated findings in psychology. It measures inhibition: overriding an automatic response.
